Verify a degree

Before anyone pays anything, we encourage every student and family to check a programme's recognition at the official source. It takes a few minutes. Here's how.

Our role, plainly

Degrees are awarded by the respective universities. Webster Infotech provides counselling and admission support.

Three checks

  1. 1

    UGC entitlement for online programmes

The University Grants Commission's Distance Education Bureau publishes which universities are entitled to offer which programmes online. Look for the university and the programme.

    deb.ugc.ac.in (official UGC-DEB website)

  2. 2

    NAAC accreditation

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council grades universities. Check the university's current grade and the year it was awarded.

    naac.gov.in (official NAAC website)

  3. 3

    The university's own website

Confirm the programme, specialisation and duration on the university's official online programmes site, and that the degree is awarded in the university's name.

Questions to ask anyone advising you

  • Which university awards the degree, and is that university entitled to offer this programme online?

  • Will the degree certificate carry the university's name, and say anything about the mode of study? confirm wording

  • Where and how are the exams held?

  • What exactly are the fees, and who are they paid to?
